Anybody who was anybody in Calhoun County Alabama had a signature
Western Flyer Bicycle from the Anniston Western Auto in the 50's and
60's.
Western Auto is uniquely American...Very Historical!

Western Auto, the mail order car parts house, was began in
Missouri in 1909 by George Pepperdine who later went on to start his
own school, Pepperdine College. Western Auto began life as a retail
store in 1921. At
one point there were over 1200 company owned stores and 600 Associate
owned stores across the nation. Our Anniston Western Auto store is an
Associate Store, and has been with us for over 50 years. Most Calhoun
County residents don't remember a time when there wasn't a Western
Auto Store. It has been a favorite with happy kids, moms and dads for
generations. As said for the Western Flyer, so goes for the the little
red wagon, the Radio Flyer. Western Auto has been universal in many
lives.
