Anniston police seeking serial rapist     

Anniston Police investigators they are dealing with a “sexual predator,” who has robbed and raped at least three and possibly five women over the past six months.  Police have begun notifying residents between East 15th and 22nd Streets in Anniston to be alert. Anniston investigators have connected at least three of the incidents based on similarities, but now say that the total may be “upwards of five.” Police say they are searching for a black male, between 20 and 35 years of age, standing about six feet tall, and weighing around 200 pounds. Police are asking residents for any information that may help them locate the suspect, reminding residents to lock all exterior doors and cars, be aware of surroundings at all times, vary their daily routines, and consider investing in an alarm system.  



Suspect charged in murder of Ragland man 

Etowah county authorities Tuesday charged A 49-year-old man suspected in the shooting death of a Ragland man with murder.  49 year old Roy Gongora Ramirez has been in jail at the Etowah County Detention Center since he was arrested Sunday afternoon.  Ramirez had been charged with murder in the death of 51 year old Terry Lacaine Trammell. Trammels body was discovered Sunday afternoon behind an abandoned house on U.S. 431 in the Sand Valley community.   Etowah county sheriff Todd Entrekin said that Trammell appeared to have been dead for several days, and it appears he was killed in the same area where he was found. Trammell’s carwas found in the parking lot at a nearby convenience store.  An Oxford man and some young boys who stopped for a short break from driving on U.S. 431 discovered the body Sunday afternoon.  Entrekin said Sheriff’s Department investigators and agents with the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit were working the case when an agent got a tip that led to the arrest of Ramirez about four hours after Trammell’s body was found.  


Sex offender released on bond after abduction attempt 

The family of an 11 year old Etowah county girl are circulating a petition in the walnut grove community after an Etowah County released a convicted sex offender accused of attempting to entice the 11 year old. 61 year old Donald Edward Holcomb, of  the Aurora community near Boaz, was released Monday afternoon on $2,500 bond after he was charged with enticing a child into a vehicle for illegal or immoral purposes, a Class C felony.  The judge has ordered Holcomb to be under house arrest and to wear an ankle bracelet with GPS monitoring.  Etowah County District Attorney Jimmie Harp said he filed a motion Tuesday to request conditions be placed on Holcomb’s bond. Etowah County District Judge William Russell signed an order late Tuesday afternoon that orders Holcomb to be placed under house arrest and wear an ankle bracelet with GPS monitoring.  A tip led to Holcomb’s arrest three days after he allegedly tried to grab an 11-year-old girl in the parking lot at West End Grocery in Walnut Grove and tried to get her to go with him.  The child’s grandmother, who objected to holcombes release, said a petition is circulating in the Walnut Grove community to protest Holcomb’s release from jail.
