Teen charged with murder returned to jail
A Piedmont teenager, charged as an adult in the
December murder of her mother, is back in jail today. Piedmont
Police Department arrested Lindsey Danielle Morgan Monday evening on
a Bond Revocation Order issued by District Court Judge Gus Colvin.
Morgan is alleged to have violated the conditions of her bond
agreement. Morgan is accused in the December 11th
stabbing death of her mother, Brenda Ingram. Officials did not
indicate the violation. Morgan was required to wear a tracking
device and was barred from the area of Calhoun County bordered by
highways 21, 204, 278 and 431. Morgan is currently being held in
the Calhoun County Jail.
Accident claims life of Ohatchee man
A 63 year old Ohatchee man was killed Monday
afternoon when his pickup slammed into a dump truck on Alabama 144
just west of Alexandria. Howard Wayne Robinett, was pronounced dead
at the scene shortly after 1 p.m. Monday afternoon. Officials said
Robinett was traveling east when his 1990 Nissan pickup collided
with a westbound 2004 Kenworth dump truck turning onto McCullars
Lane, near the Vulcan Materials Co. quarry. State troopers, who
investigated the accident say that the driver of the dump truck, 47
year old Michael D. Chapman, of Piedmont, appeared uninjured in the
Georgia man nabbed with bogus bills
A 31 year old Georgia man is in jail today
after leading Oxford Police on a chase after he passed a counterfeit
$20 bill at an oxford fast food restaurant. Police say the
Austell, Ga., man had $1,220 in counterfeit bills when he was
apprehended. An alert employee discovered the bill was counterfeit
and called police. While the manager was on the phone, William Lyle
Myers backed out and fled the restaurant.
Oxford Police spotted Myers' 2001 Chevy
Cavalier on U.S. 78 around Caffey Drive. When they signaled for him
to pull over, Myers led them on a chase. At one point, police
boxed him into a cul-de-sac. Myers reportedly ran over a mailbox and
a trash can to slip past them. He eventually pulled the Cavalier
into a vacant lot near Lynn Drive, bailed out, and fled on foot
through some woods toward Interstate 20.
Investigators said officers could hear horns
blowing on the Interstate but could not see Myers. An Alabama State
Trooper in the area spotted him ducking into a line of woods and
assisted Oxford Police with the arrest. Myers was charged with
first-degree possession of a forged instrument and reckless
Myers told investigators he had passed
counterfeit bills along I-20 between Oxford and Atlanta, Ga., in
small businesses and restaurants. Police don't yet know exactly how
much counterfeit money he distributed.
BB Gun shooting
Etowah County Authorities say that A
15-year-old is suspected of firing a BB gun from an interstate
overpass and striking a vehicle, injuring a young girl inside the
vehicle. Officials say that A Tennessee woman was driving the 2007
Kia Rondo north on Interstate 59 about 4:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon
when something hit and shattered the back passenger window. The
woman's family was riding in the Rondo and a girl was hit in the
neck either by the BB or by a piece of the glass. Her injuries were
not believed to be serious. Officers later discovered a 15-year-old
Attalla boy apparently fired the shot from the overpass at Pleasant
