Teen charged with murder returned to jail

A Piedmont teenager, charged as an adult in the December murder of her mother, is back in jail today.  Piedmont Police Department arrested Lindsey Danielle Morgan Monday evening on a Bond Revocation Order issued by District Court Judge Gus Colvin.  Morgan is alleged to have violated the conditions of her bond agreement.  Morgan is accused in the December 11th stabbing death of her mother, Brenda Ingram.  Officials did not indicate the violation.  Morgan was required to wear a tracking device and was barred from the area of Calhoun County bordered by highways 21, 204, 278 and 431.  Morgan is currently being held in the Calhoun County Jail.

Accident claims life of Ohatchee man

A 63 year old Ohatchee man was killed Monday afternoon when his pickup slammed into a dump truck on Alabama 144 just west of Alexandria. Howard Wayne Robinett,  was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1 p.m. Monday afternoon.  Officials said Robinett was traveling east when his 1990 Nissan pickup collided with a westbound 2004 Kenworth dump truck turning onto McCullars Lane, near the Vulcan Materials Co. quarry. State troopers, who investigated the accident say that the driver of the dump truck, 47 year old Michael D. Chapman, of Piedmont, appeared uninjured in the accident.

Georgia man nabbed with bogus bills

A 31 year old Georgia man is in jail today after leading Oxford Police on a chase after he passed a counterfeit $20 bill at an oxford fast food restaurant.  Police say the  Austell, Ga., man had $1,220 in counterfeit bills when he was apprehended.  An alert employee discovered the bill was counterfeit and called police.  While the manager was on the phone, William Lyle Myers backed out and fled the restaurant.

Oxford Police spotted Myers' 2001 Chevy Cavalier on U.S. 78 around Caffey Drive. When they signaled for him to pull over, Myers led them on a chase.   At one point, police boxed him into a cul-de-sac. Myers reportedly ran over a mailbox and a trash can to slip past them. He eventually pulled the Cavalier into a vacant lot near Lynn Drive, bailed out, and fled on foot through some woods toward Interstate 20.

Investigators said officers could hear horns blowing on the Interstate but could not see Myers.  An Alabama State Trooper in the area spotted him ducking into a line of woods and assisted Oxford Police with the arrest.  Myers was charged with first-degree possession of a forged instrument and reckless endangerment.

Myers told investigators he had passed counterfeit bills along I-20 between Oxford and Atlanta, Ga., in small businesses and restaurants.  Police don't yet know exactly how much counterfeit money he distributed.

BB Gun shooting

Etowah County Authorities say that A 15-year-old is suspected of firing a BB gun from an interstate overpass and striking a vehicle, injuring a young girl inside the vehicle.  Officials say that A Tennessee woman was driving the 2007 Kia Rondo north on Interstate 59 about 4:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon when something hit and shattered the back passenger window.  The woman's family was riding in the Rondo and a girl was hit in the neck either by the BB or by a piece of the glass. Her injuries were not believed to be serious.  Officers later discovered a 15-year-old Attalla boy apparently fired the shot from the overpass at Pleasant Valley Road.
