Wildfire burning in St. Clair County
Officials say that a Fire in Ragland is burning
out of control and has now burned over 500 acres.
Forestry officials said this morning that the wildfire is
burning deep in the woods of Saint Clair County. The fire started
burning Sunday just outside of Ragland, West of Highway 21. Fire
officials say the fire is not threatening any homes at this time.
Forestry officials still don't know what sparked the wildfire.
Teen arrested in Anniston murder
Anniston police have made an arrest in the June
second shooting of a 69 year old man on Dolley Avenue. Police
arrested a 17-year-old boy Friday and charging him with murder in
connection with the June 2 shooting death of 69-year-old Bosie Ford
Jr. Because he is a juvenile, police could not release his name.
Police found Fords body with a gunshot wound in the doorway of his
home on Dooley Avenue.
Gadsden man drowns in Lake Weiss
25-year-old Andres Francisco of Gadsden, died
Sunday while swimming at a resort at Weiss Lake resort . Francisco was
pronounced dead at Cherokee Medical Center in Centre at about 3:30
p.m. Sunday afternoon, after a swimming incident at the Pine Cone
Marina on Weiss Lake in Leesburg. Officials said He and his brother
were swimming with friends when the incident occurred.
Tyson recalls beef from Walmart Stores
Tyson Fresh Meats Friday recalled more than
40,000 pounds of ground beef.
Samples tested at a Sherman, Texas, plant showed signs of
E.coli contamination in meat shipped to Wal-Mart stores in 12 states.
No illnesses had been reported. The recalled products were sent to
Wal-Mart stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky,
Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and
Texas. Wal-Mart has removed the products from its meat cases and is
destroying the recalled ground beef still in its possession. Tyson has
recalled 40,440 pounds of ground beef, all of which had sell-by dates
of June 13. The ground beef was sold in prepackaged trays that were
placed directly into the meat case.
The recalled products include:
- one and a-half pound trays of Angus steak
burger all natural, 85/15, 6¼-pound patties;
- one and one-third pound trays of Angus
steak burger all natural, 85/15, extra thick, 4 1/3-pound patties;
- two and a-quarter pound trays of 73/27
all-natural ground beef; and
- five and a-half pound trays of 73/27
all-natural ground beef.
