Second suspect arrested in Anniston
The brother of An Anniston man charged with a
July 6 shooting in South Anniston that left one man dead and another
injured was arrested Monday in connection with the shooting. 50 year
old Harry Bradford, the brother of William Bradford, who was
arrested in Virginia last week and charged with first-degree murder
and attempted murder following the shooting, was charged Monday with
hindering prosecution. William Bradford is one of two men police
believe to have been involved in the July 6 shooting on Allen Ave.
Police believe the shooting stemmed from an argument over $40. The
victims were 65 year old Billy “Cowboy” Deerman, of Oxford, who was
pronounced dead at the scene, and 50 year old Eugene Alexander, of
Anniston, who was taken to Regional Medical Center and released.
Police arrested 18 year old Quindarious Nofsinger, today in
connection with the shooting.
Altoona woman dies in accident
Troopers with the Jacksonville State Trooper
post report that A 50 year old Altoona woman was killed in a
single-vehicle car accident Monday morning in Etowah County.
According to Trooper reports, Linda Tidmore Vandyke, was driving an
Isuzu Trooper that crashed shortly before noon Monday five miles
south of Altoona on Jackson Trail.
Mother of 5 year old killed in dog attack charged
The mother of a five year old West Georgia girl
killed by a neighbor's rottweiller last week is now facing charges
of involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct. 41 year old
Florence Pauley was arrested Monday afternoon by Carroll County
Georgia Sheriffs deputies. Officials said the mother admitted to
being under the influence of drugs late Wednesday night and
apparently did not wake up to find Tiffany Pauley missing until
another child woke her at 11am Thursday morning. The neighbor's dog
involved in the attack along with two other dogs have remained
quarantined since the little girl's death and authorities say the
dogs will be euthanized.
Etowah considers animal control contract
Commission President Jimmy McKee said the commission is considering
a measure that would pay the Calhoun County Humane Society to hold
abandoned or abused cats and dogs from Etowah County. Calhoun
County Commissioners approved the contract last Thursday. McKee
said the commission contacted several humane societies for ideas
about how to incorporate the needs of several small townships into
one central shelter. McKee said that they looked at several
different humane societies, and we liked what we saw with Calhoun
County, saying that Their animal control facilities have lower
euthanasia rates and higher adoption rates.
