Too much fluoride leaves bitter taste in Jacksonville Water

The city of Jacksonville utility department is recommending that customers on the cities water system refrain from drinking or cooking with the water until later today when a flushing of the system is complete.  Officials say that an equipment malfunction resulted in an abnormal amount of fluoride to be injected into the cities water system during the night.  The above normal amount of fluoride is not considered to be dangerous, however its presence has resulted in a discoloration and unpleasant odor and taste to the water supply.  Several people have reported upset stomachs after drinking the water.  City officials say that normal use of the water is expected to be available later this afternoon.

Talladega man arrested in Jacksonville burglary

A Talladega man was arrested this morning by Jacksonville police after he attempted to recover his car which had been impounded by police early this morning after a foiled burglary attempt at a local jewelry store.  Jacksonville assistant police chief Bill Wineman said Officers discovered the attempted burglary near 2:30 this morning .21 year old Vincent Armstrong of Talladega was arrested when he came to the police department later this morning to claim his vehicle was stolen.  The officer involved in the chase identified Armstrong as the man he chased and Armstrong is now facing burglary charges.
