Anniston man arrested in Etowah Theft Case 

Etowah County authorities have charged two men with theft after Buffalo Rock authorities discovered that they allegedly had falsified invoices and kept the money.  Sheriff James Hayes said 23 year old Tyler Scott Teneyck, of Anniston, was arrested Thursday and has been charged with first degree theft of property.  33 year old Julian Ochoa of Leesburg is charged with second degree theft of property, he was arrested Sept. 29th.  Buffalo Rock conducted an internal investigation prior to contacting the Sheriff’s department.  Teneyck is being held on a $5,000 bond while Ochoa is being held on a $2,500 bond.



Calhoun County receives grant for McClellan work 

Calhoun County Commissioners Thursday accepted an almost half million dollar grant from the Small Business Administration earmarked for use at McClellan.  Commissioner Robert Downing, who lobbied for the grant, making several trips to Washington, said the money will be put to good use.  Downing said much of the money will be used for necessary repairs on buildings at the former fort as well as reviving an abandoned amphitheatre that had been used by the army prior to world war two.  The work will be accomplished thru the Joint Powers Authority with the county commission administering the grant money as work is accomplished.


Gadsden police investigate Store Robbery 

Gadsden police say a man held workers at gunpoint and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash during a Thursday robbery at a convenience store on Litchfield avenue.  Police said that the may entered the store around noon demanding money and brandishing a silver handled gun.  He fled the scene in a burgundy or dark colored SUV and was not apprehended.
