Selection of a contractor to clean up fire damage at Anniston High School is expected to be made this week.  City School Supt. Sammy Lee Felton is expected to award the contract to one of two local companies.  State law requires accepting the lowest bid that meets the systems requirements.  The lowest bid was from Syms Contractors for $343,750, another bid was from Servpro for $499,961.  School System attorney James Campbell said Monday he will recommend one of the two companies to Felton today.  The restoration project at the school will include cleaning textbooks and chairs as well as replacing damaged carpets and sections of ceiling.  Authorities say they are still searching for suspects in the May 19th fire.

Hokes Bluff hires new Police Chief

The Hokes Bluff City Council agreed Monday night to offer the job of police chief to a 20 year law enforcement veteran.  Mark Hanna Robinson of Titus was selected to become the new chief.  Robinson is currently employed with the Montgomery Police Department where he has worked since 1986.  Robinson had worked as a patrolman in Alexander City for a year before moving to Montgomery and had also served in the Army as a military police officer from 1983 to 1985.  Robinson is expected to be in Hokes Bluff Tomorrow to negotiate a salary and discuss the transition.   Councilman Jerry Heard, who chaired the committee that led the search for a police chief, said he felt the process used to select a chief was fair.
