Old Websites May Contain New Treasures

Internet marketing software is a dandy thing to have for brainstorming the next new website, but let me ask a question of those who have been at it awhile. When is the last time you went through your burdensome inventory of older sites?

I only have 45 or so in my inventory, and months go by without me taking even a peek at some of them as I move onto bigger and better. I'm betting you are about the same way.

However, even though I always have the next new thing on the burner, lately, I have been going back and looking at what has gone on before. Doing so, I have had a few surprises.

Mostly, I found that my older sites have a pretty good PR. If you are new to Internet Marketing, PR stands for Public Relations.

No. Actually, it means Page Rank, and Page Rank, or PR for short is something that Google hands out from high atop their mountain to each and every website.

Websites with a higher PR beat equal websites of a lower PR. There are several factors that go into making a higher PR website, but suffice to say that all things being equal, which they seldom are, higher beats lower.

A great many pages have been placed on the Internet about how to go about purchasing old domains that have a PR rank, and turning them to use for your brand new website program.

Frankly, I don't worry too much about that, because my sites most often move up to at least a PR2 before too long because of good building habits.

Even so, given my druthers, I would rather have a higher PR site to start with. So where do I find them? I need look no further than my older sites that have fallen off my radar.

It is a fact that I know a WHOLE lot more these days than I did in those days of several of my first sites. Even so, I managed to blunder into good PR rankings.

So, it occurred to me that I should check my inventory, and use what I already own.

Knowing what I do these days, it's a pretty good bet that I can take an old do-nothing site, and supercharge it so that it will start making money instead of just being a burden every year when the domain charges come due.

That's what I have been doing lately...Reworking some of my older sites with new techniques.

It's something for you to consider. Take an old site that has some PR and forge it anew into a moneymaker.

If you have old inventory, you don't have to run out and buy a new-old domain of questionable name. Use what you already have. Leave the page url's intact, and just rewrite the pages, adding in juicy keywords and content.

With what you have learned, you may be surprised at the results!
